The #Trumpery Administration has done more to betray Christ's Teachings than any other American "leader" in our History ... I foresee Christianity taking a HUGE societal hit as a direct result of the Cruelty encouraged these past 4 years.

I am so very saddened by this disillusionment of my Fellow Americans -because they ARE my Fellow Americans, tho they be following evil. How do we reach them through their toxic fog of hate & rage? It's HARD to turn the other cheek when the results affect not just the "Cheek Turner", but their entire one mile radius of innocents.. How do we break on through to the other side?

YES we NEED Healing as a Country AND IT MUST BEGIN NOW but #Trumpery's people are so cultish, how will we pursue JUSTICE? without inciting these poor sad deluded and frightened FELLOW AMERICANS into some kind of self-inflicted shot to the heart? #Trumpery & his minions cannot go unpunished or we continue the abuse heaped upon our Democratic system of REPRESENTATIVE LAWS (not to mention our planet!!!) which he has beaten to a pulp. Not to mention we set the stage for the NEXT Authoritarian attack on our Freedoms - who WON'T be as inept as the #NectarineNero

I fear some of my more Progressive brethren will be impatient because this election has veered back towards the "middle setting of the pendulum" but HONESTLY we are TIRED. We all need the time to reset the damage #Trumpery and the spineless GOP has done to our Country since the Reagan times, since Citizen's United. Since the Tea Party. PLUS we still have #Obstructionist #MoscowMitch to deal with, and it is pretty apparent to me listening to Gym Jordan & Matt Gaetz that Trumpism has not been defeated. Even fixing what the #CantaloupeCaligula has damaged with his tranny via executive decision is going to take a SIGNIFICANT block of time, and we no longer have a player as Prez. No golf trips for Joe.

I really urge my Democratic brethren to PLEASE stop the infighting. Let's roll up our sleeves and learn to work TOGETHER so we can heal what's damaged, #BuildBackBetter and then, when we've plugged all the leaks and the dam ain't fit to burstin', find our way FORWARD to a new Future. WE have shown what we can do when we work together. Let's #KeepTheFaith

I got to thinkin' Tomorrow is the biggest election I have ever witnessed in 63 & ¾ years’ of experience. WE have seen as a society, violence –on both sides, yes- but particularly egged on by a man who has ALWAYS been pathologically ill-prepared for a position which requires empathy & self-sacrifice & compromise, who has ALWAYS reacted with violence & disdain towards all others but those more powerful than he.

That’s his cross to bear, but his tenure has tainted much of the foundations of which we base our very Democracy: Trust in the Goodness of our fellow Humans.

We have seen our fellow Americans devolve into the rankest of isms; from disregard of others’ suffering; dragging babies from their Families & kenneling them in cages in the name of *dissuading illegal immigration*; mocking others’ infirmities or cautions; schoolyard bullying & disparaging nicknames; inciting violence. All of these. From our neighbors. Because #Trumpery has given them permission and justification to exact their fears and anger against anyone who doesn’t look, love, pray or believe as they do. Some of these egregious transgressions have been enacted in the name of Christianity. I can’t even express how deeply disturbing this is for me, personally. I just cannot even. How can you read and follow the Sermon on the Mount and still approve of #Trumpery’s actions? How do you not go crazy with such cognitive dissonance?

But these reactionary “isms” are kneejerk reactions. They can be viewed as a typical, yet uneducated and un-self-aware reaction to change, and the uncertainty which inevitably comes from such accelerated change. They can be viewed this way, even sympathized with this way… But it shouldn’t be normalized. This is not what feeds our better angels. AND WE KNOW IT.

And we also know that it will take ALL OF US ~ Democrats, Independents, Libertarians, & Republicans, ALL OF US who genuinely care for America, its shining example of diversity & freedom of expression, of justice for all – ALL OF US to stop this rollercoaster ride to a GOP-ruled one party kleptocratic oligarchy. Unless we re-learn the art of compromise, the ability to reach consensus, to be able to overcome  this toxic distrustful partisanship that our Governance has become, unless we re-learn how to actively listen to one another, to shut off the TV 📺  and the fox entertainment disinformation channel, to stop being so darned scared… That’s how we get manipulated, is when we are made to be afraid of some nefarious “other”. We have met the enemy and he is us.

So why do I hear some Democrats all sorts of upset about the Lincoln Project? Do any of you realize how traumatic it must feel to virtually abandon their Party and work against the GOP itself? To advocate supporting their “political rivals” ?? And to do this not for financial or personal gain but DESPITE the certain knowledge that their work will destroy their careers? THEY ARE DOING IT BECAUSE IT’S THE RIGHT THING FOR OUR COUNTRY. Why is that suspect? It feels to me that we are stumbling over the same pitfalls which led Republicans to lose their soul: unwarranted fear & suspicion. We need to get a grip on ourselves for goodness sake! Snap out of it!!

So what comes next?  

If we are VERY VERY FORTUNATE and we manage to Vote this lunatic out of office and block all his efforts at voter disenfranchisement and suppression, we at least will be voting in a President who truly values his fellow Congressional  representatives from across the aisle - one who does NOT believe that unless you are registered in the same party you are an “adversary”. Joe Biden has said it clearly :

“But while I will be a Democratic candidate, I will be an American president. I will work as hard for those who didn’t support me as I will for those who did.

That’s the job of a president. To represent all of us, not just our base or our party. This is not a partisan moment. This must be an American moment.

It’s a moment that calls for hope and light and love. Hope for our futures, light to see our way forward, and love for one another. 

America isn’t just a collection of clashing interests of Red States or Blue States.

We’re so much bigger than that. 

We’re so much better than that.”

I’m pretty progressive, and I Voted for Bernie in the primaries in 2016, and Elizabeth Warren for this election’s primaries. I was raised very conservative, but in an era of great social change: the 60’s. Great change brought great conflict yet out of that conflict –often bloody and violent – yet out of that conflict we crafted a beginning to Civil Rights – not yet for all, that is before us still- broke sexual stereotypes, and started inroads to marriage equality. Only beginnings. And many are under attack under this current Administration. Sometimes I despair of battling these same common-decency human rights arguments. But more often I just feel more determined. This is our Battle. This is the Hill to Die On. This is the vote of a lifetime. And it will take ALL OF US working together to get the job done.

So how will we begin? I am praying that after #Trumpery leaves office & Joe Biden begins his Presidency that we can ALL OF US start to try to heal the little hurts between us which has led to these huge gaping wounds which divide us. I am praying that we can start healing the hate which has led neighbors to bear arms against neighbors purely because they are peacefully supporting or protesting an idea which we disagree on.

It’s going to take a LOT of healing. It’s going to take a LOT of taking a deep breath and trying to reach out to those we have had to alienate in order to protect ourselves. It’s going to take a LOT of forgiveness. As a member of the Party who is trying to redefine itself as the Party of Compassion, or Justice for All, for Inclusivity, I expect us to have to bear the brunt of outreach .. but that may be because I’ve yet to threaten a Republican for supporting #Trumpery, and have yet to see any of my fellow #Resisters offer violence against others and I have repeatedly seen supporters of #Trumpery threaten and enact violence against liberals and have been a recipient of armed threats myself. So yeah, I have some hurt here too to mend. I expected better of all of us.

So I am urging all of us who did not Vote for #Trumpery no matter your temptations, to start the healing now & that begins with InterWeb memes & snipes. Even when we think they or we are being clever. OH I am going to have a hard time with this, but honestly, I think if we all just resisted the temptation to snipe at least twice per day, it would maybe set a precedent. We NEED to re-establish common decency precedents. I hope we will not taunt or belittle any of our fellow Americans for their vote if Trumpery does not win. I hope we can feed the good wolf, to embrace our better angels because it is going to take a United America to fix what’s been broke.

Kyrie Excelsior Song Kitty

There is a new star in the heavens. My Kyrie, my little song kitty excelsior's deo is gone. TOO YOUNG and I do not understand why.

She was happy and playful and we'd been playing fetch 2 hours ago.

It's been cold, so we were snuggling, her on her favorite bed, my shoulders. Right on top of me.

All of a sudden without ANY warning, she gently rolled off my shoulder. No seizure, NO WARNING nothing. I started rubbing her belly, because she -being the most extraordinary cat- actually LOVED that. After a few long rubs, I noticed that she was REALLY limp, so I peeked up, and asked her "Hey are you sleeping so soundly that..."

and I saw her give a small gasp, her tail bottled all the way to the end, voided a little.. I gathered her up in a panic... and she left me. I could not have even gotten her to the car for an ER run. She was gone within minutes.

I mean it took longer to write this then it took for God to take her from me.

She didn't have fleas, nary a one. She didn't have worms. She'd recently been to the Vet with a glowing health report..No strings or things to ingest. She'd been eating well, although she liked the salmon kibble better than the chicken and turkey. She'd been drinking well. SHE WAS HEALTHY. SHE WAS MY KITTY GIRL. And now she's gone, and I do not understand why. I do not understand what could POSSIBLY have happened, except .. a heart attack? Something that steals a life without any warning, nary a sniffle, without any damned warning. Looks like a heart attack. So fast. Her eyes are even closed. 

 I thought SURELY I'd have time to get videos of her fetching ANYTHING I threw and bringing it back to do it over and over again... "Go get it !" scamper scamper romp romp toss it up high in the air ! "Bring it back!" and sure enough she would bring it back until she grew tired of the game .. a mere 30 minutes or more.. And how she would press the current fetch toy into my hands and then scent rub it

and the way she'd biscuit with all four legs rather than just her two front paws.. She'd hump her back like a camel and stomp about in a circle just makin' biscuits ...

"I want more life."

It is going to be such a long long couple of nights... Sleeping alone is hard enough but to have my Kitty Girl stripped from me is going to make Lonely a sledge hammer to my heart.

I open the door and expect her to say "MOM MOM MOM HI HI Guess what *I* did Here's my mouse"

She had such a huge repertoire of vocalizations, filled full of chirps and *mrrrrowps*  and *meow*meow*meow*s Each so different from the next.

 

I did sneak in a picture of her little tongue as she napped

and OH ! catnip was her friend...

She was SO gentle and kind to other kitties. First to my Elderly Sunny, whom she snuggled with as Sunny was so frail and old. Sunny and Kyrie and me. Kyrie helped me through Sunny's passing. Sunny helped teach her "the ways of Kitty Domination"...

And then next with Pickles, the wee tiny kitten we rescued out of the deep brush on a backroads next to dead. 

 I found myself walking into the wall
and stopping and going what? what is going on? this is an awful dream. Stop it. wake up...

opening the door to my bedroom and not having her try to slip through my legs

pestering me to "HEY MOM I want you to play with me meow right meow"
stomp all over me to get my attention

Doing the circle right before bed. Window, bedside table, me, food dish, chair, window, me, rinse and repeat until I finally stopped reading and tuned out the lights and it was time for snuggles.

I want that back.
I want all of it back.

I spent the night waking up and hearing her voice. Waking up to the pressure of her paws softening up her "favorite bed" : my body.

I woke up hearing her say "C'Mon let's play I brought you a toy to throw for me" *mrrrrrreow*purr.

I kept lifting the covers waiting for her to come snuggle under the blankets with me.

I kept dangling my fingers at the edge of the blankets tempting her to play "catch and release"

and feeling the crush of my battered heart knowing I won't know these things again in this life.

On American Ethics

On the day Senator John McCain passed over to the Summerland, I was musing. I think I was hearing him. "This guy, he served his country."

I'm sure y'all know by now how I feel about #KingTrumpery and his #SwampRat coterie. It's not that he ran in the Tea Party GOP -style platform. There are actually more Republican politicians that I have respect for -even if we may disagree- than you would imagine, seeing as how vociferously Liberal I am. I have disliked this man since the middle 80's. He stands for everything I believe is the base weakness of humanity: Greed, racism, white privilege, Manifest Destiny, exploitation, sexism. I despise his lying braggadocio. He has always made my skin crawl and my stomach roil. Just your basic gut reaction, I guess.

But That is not why I believe he needs to be Impeached. Removed from office in the most efficacious manner legally possible. Held Accountable. Along with every single one of his cabinet. It's also not why I believe blatant obstructionists who have also lied in order to preserve their political power to keep this man in office should also be accountable. (No matter what party, no matter what position.)

No. He needs ro be removed, and we all MUST take a lesson so that this can never happen again because MOST of us are basically good people put under too much pressure, and his style of Autocracy demands division and hate between us. He needs to be removed because he feels as if -or "just" acts as if he feels this way - We the People need to be controlled by an Oligarchy. That he and only he, knows best about what is best for us, and that some of "us" are "more equal than others"

That is not the American Way. We have always been a raucous Country, with a difficult and brash and a certain .. "uncivil" style of Governing ourselves. But we've always been an open hearted Country of problem solvers, eager to explore new thoughts and unafraid to address new challenges. That seems to be ... in short supply now-a-days and that is possibly part of what I miss about the America I know. This frightened isolationist racist bully of a Country that we seem to have been embracing ... Man, we're better than this. We ARE.

So what can we do about it?

Well, we can take a little time and a long deep breath before we snap ... and bite and post .. We can be a little kinder to one another... and.....WE CAN VOTE. VOTING MATTERS.

Last night I dreamed of Vince & Sam. This song sang in the background... I had forgotten my alarm clock, and as I went back to get fetch it, I turned the corner, and Vinnie was hurrying off to some destination or another.. When I flew into his arms crying, he held me at arm's length and said "What's the matter with you?" I told him I missed him. He said he was busy. I sat and cried. Then Sam came over, with his sly adorable grin, like "I have a secret" He motioned me over, and slipped a tab of LSD on his tongue and told me"I don't want the others to see it, they wouldn't understand" and then he smiled that beautific golden smile of his... I told him about seeing Vinnie and how sad I was, and how much I missed both of them.... Sam told me that Vinnie didn't know he was dead, so he was busy trying to learn the work he had put off while he was living... But that he, Sam, KNEW he was on the other side.. He told me not to be so sad, because he was always at my shoulder, always with me, and...and ... and ...

and rethink the whole education thang, that's just not holding true. ONLY in higher education (Postgraduate study) did Hillary reach the majority. It was pretty much half and half from everything below the post graduate level.
