I feel the exact same way as President Obama. If that pisses you off, you have options, because I will NOT be silent on this matter. You can unfriend me, OR if I matter to you but we cannot agree on common sense gun regulations per the 2nd Amendment, "A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed." in ALL of its' meaning not just the cherry picked NRA-approved ones, then hit the UNFOLLOW button and you won't be troubled by my political posts.
“And what’s become routine, of course, is the response of those who oppose any kind of common-sense gun legislation,” Mr. Obama said. “Right now, I can imagine the press releases being cranked out. ‘We need more guns,’ they’ll argue. ‘Fewer gun-safety laws.’ ”
“Does anybody really believe that?” he asked, his voice rising.
How can we continue to lie to ourselves and claim we believe in Freedom and Liberty when we refuse to protect our children and our citizens in preference over MONEY, POWER and a TOOL??? When we allow THIS to be our dictating Law ?
"I am sorry you lost your child. I myself have a son and daughter and the one thing I never want to go through, is what you are going through now," wrote Wurzelbacher, "But: As harsh as this sounds – your dead kids don’t trump my Constitutional rights."
When the 2nd Amendment is more important than the Declaration of Independence: "We hold these truths to be sacred & undeniable; that all men are created equal & independent, that from that equal creation they derive rights inherent & inalienable, among which are the preservation of life, & liberty, & the pursuit of happiness; ..." What are we REALLY standing for?
While I am TRYING to understand the knee-jerk visceral reaction some seem to feel about common sense gun regulations, I guess for myself, what's important to ME are the lives lost for no reason. Gun are just a tool. You can replace tools. You cannot replace human lives.
But you know, I guess it's a matter of priorities. I know where MINE lie.
